memorial donations

to the Iaem Scholarship fund

Memorial donations in the name of late IAEM members or their family members, as well as friends in the EM community, are always an appropriate way of recognizing and remembering a family member, friend or colleague.

There is a space on the online donation form to specify that it is a memorial donation.

Memorials:

In Memory of Glenn Cox, Father of IAEM Treasurer Rick Cox, CEM (07/25/07)

IAEM Headquarters has received word that IAEM Treasurer Rick Cox's father, Glenn Cox, passed away on July 24, 2007. Cards and messages of condolence may be sent to: Rick Cox, 665 Hillcrest Circle, Hawesville, KY 42348. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IAEM Scholarship Fund in memory of Glenn Cox. IAEM expresses sympathy to Glenn's family and friends.

In Memory of Chip Runnels (06/01/07)

Long-time IAEM member CMSgt Chip Runnels, CEM, (USAF-Retired) passed away on May 21 at home in Zephyrhills, Fla. Chip was a Certified Emergency Manager® and an early Certification Commission member for the first two classes of CEMs®.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 30 years, moving from fire protection positions that ranged all the way from firefighter to fire chief, into the disaster preparedness field, where he was a disaster preparedness program superintendent, CBRNE (Chemical,
Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and High Explosive) research and development program manager, base inspection manager, and EOC chief. Chip served during the Vietnam era, the Cold War, the
war on terrorism, and Operations Desert Storm and Desert Freedom. He was a decorated veteran with more than 20 medals.

After he retired, Chip worked as a U.S. Dept. of Defense CBRNE
consultant for Macaulay-Brown, Inc., and Battelle Memorial
Institute. He taught EMT and fire science courses at three colleges.
Chip is survived by his wife Marti and their three children and
four grandchildren. IAEM expresses sympathy to Chip’s family
and friends. He will be greatly missed by his IAEM friends and
colleagues. Shortly before his death, Chip contacted IAEM
Membership & Marketing Director, Dawn Shiley-Danzeisen,
specifically to express his personal request that memorials in his
memory be directed to the IAEM Scholarship Fund, as he wished to
become a posthumous platinum donor to the fund.
