IAEM is proud to announce that the money raised for scholarships at the IAEM 57th Annual Conference and EMEX 2009 in Orlando, Florida, totaled $25,038.25. Many thanks to all members and exhibitors who contributed to fundraising efforts for the IAEM Scholarship Program.
This year the live auction raised $13,247.25, and donations in the memory of our friend and colleague Vikki Stempkowski, CEM, IAEM Secretary, were received in the amount of $4,380. The silent auction raised $2,788, while the basket bonanza raised $3,133. A total of $1,500 was received in EMEX exhibitor donations, which included exhibitor donations for the flag program and personal donations.
. IAEM Headquarters is seeking donations of items and services to be auctioned at the IAEM 58th Annual Conference & EMEX 2010 in San Antonio, Texas, to benefit the IAEM Scholarship Program. Please approach your local retailers for contributions, and report all donations of items (with their value) to Dawn Shiley-Danziesen, IAEM Communications & Marketing Director, IAEM Headquarters, 703-538-1795 or shiley@iaem.com.
The IAEM Scholarship Auctions have been exceptionally successful during past IAEM Annual Conferences, raising significant funds for the IAEM Scholarship Program. Please help us make next year’s event an outstanding success as well – and do your part to help the IAEM Scholarship Program – by contributing an auction item on behalf of scholarships for emergency management students.
- Past Scholarship Auction Hits. Some donated items that have been real hits in the past are: cigars, artwork (especially emergency management or fire-related), electronics (iPods, telephones, CD players), limited edition collectibles related to emergency management, jewelry, and collectible sports memorabilia.
- Want to Be a Donor, But Don’t Have Time to Find an Item? Let Us Shop for You. Donors are also welcome to send cash donations (to Dawn Shiley-Danziesen’s attention) earmarked for the auction. IAEM staff will shop for an appropriate item (or items) for the auction with the cash. The member will be listed on the scholarship auction item donor list.
- Tax-Deductible Donations Always Welcome. Your tax deductible contributions to the IAEM Scholarship Program are welcome at any time.
