Conference volunteers for 2006
September 11, 2006
Dear IAEM Members:
The IAEM Conference Committee is looking for people willing to volunteer during the IAEM 54th Annual Conference & EMEX Exhibit, November 12-15, 2006 at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida. Student members have been our best volunteers at recent conferences. Taking advantage of this opportunity will provide a forum for networking with key stakeholders at all levels of government, the private sector, public health and related professions in emergency management and homeland security.
With your help, we can make this conference a huge success. All we need for you to do is the following:
- Indicate the volunteer position desired from the List of IAEM Conference Volunteer Roles. There are many roles, including: speaker liaisons/room chaperones; floor managers; basket bonanza manager; scholarship auction assistants (for both the silent and live events); runners; registration assistants; and more.
- Note that volunteers receive a $50 registration fee discount for each 2-hour time-block worked. You will not be compensated for any hours worked that exceed the value of the registration fee ($200 for IAEM student members, $425 for all other IAEM members, and $525 for non-members).
- Volunteers are expected to purchase a Conference Volunteer Staff shirt, approximately $35, to wear while on duty at the IAEM Conference. Please indicate your shirt size on the form provided.
- Volunteers are required to sign the commitment form as well as participate in a conference call prior to the annual conference, and they will need to attend daily briefings throughout the conference.
- If you are selected to volunteer, you will be notified of your assignment on or by Monday, Oct. 9, 2006.
Thank you in advance for considering volunteering at the IAEM Annual Conference. If you have any questions, please contact Sharon Kelly, IAEM Registrar, at 703-538-1795 x2, or Ernest Wheeler, IAEM 2005-2006 Student Vice President, at rnwheelerclnc@yahoo.com or 917-304-8597.
Sincerely,
Ernest B. Wheeler
IAEM Conference Volunteer Director
