Committee Mission

The Editorial Committee assists the IAEM Bulletin Editor in identifying articles and special focus issues. Members of the committee recruit subject matter experts to author articles and function as liaisons to the Board of Directors on communications issues.

Current Committee Activities

• The Editorial Committee issued the Call for Articles for 2008 special focus issues at the IAEM 2007 Mid-Year Meeting and will promote the special focus issues throughout the year.
• In addition to the print edition of the newsletter, the association will continue to publish the online Bulletin, which includes extended material and is posted in Members Only in the IAEM Bulletin Archives. The online Bulletin archives go back to 1999.
• The committee is encouraging members to share theses, dissertations, after-action reports, and other resources in the Members Only area on our Web site. Contact IAEM Bulletin Editor Karen Thompson at thompson@iaem.com if you are interested in sharing resource material. The committee is working on a project to establish an online searchable compendium of EM practitioner articles.
• Editorial Committee Co-Chair Dr. Dean Larson, CEM, CSP, compiled a list of certifications related in some way to emergency management and/or typical of the types of certifications that IAEM members achieve. The list has been posted on the Resources page (03/05/07), but suggestions for additions or changes are still welcome at drlarson@jorsm.com.
