DETails & GETTING STARTED
Certification Program Details | Getting Started
Thank you for your interest in IAEM's CEM® and/or AEMSM Program. Please check out our Certification home page at www.iaem.com/CEM to obtain detailed information about the fees and requirements of the program. This site also will provide helpful information regarding questions and answers along, with specific information regarding each requirement. Also available is the CEM® Study Guide brochure which will assist you in preparing to sit for the exam.
Once you have registered online (see Getting Started section below), you will have access to download the various certification documents needed in order to obtain either the CEM® or AEMSM designation. When you are ready to either submit your credentials for review by the CEM® Commission or to sit for the examination, you will need to pay the application fee ($325 for IAEM members or $450 for non-members). You will have one year from the date of the first step to complete the second step.
You may sit for the CEM® examination at either your local high school, community college, university, or military installation (education offices), during one of your state emergency management conferences, or at one of IAEM's national conferences. Once you have secured a proctor, date and location, you will need to provide to IAEM Membership Director Sharon Kelly your proctor's complete contact information along with the date of your exam, giving her at least 14 business days' notice.
Once you have made the decision to pursue your Certified Emergency Manager credential, you may register online to download the CEM®/AEMSM application documents. Once you register, you will be able to download the documents at no charge.
Again, for complete information about the CEM®/AEMSM Program, visit the Certification home page at www.iaem.com/CEM.
