CEM® Commission
Certified Emergency Manager (CEM®) Commission

IAEM currently is transitioning from a single CEM® Commission to Council-based Commissions operating under a Global CEM® Commission. The new Global CEM® Commission will address policy matters.

Composition of IAEM-Global CEM® Commission: The IAEM Global CEM® Commission is composed of representatives from all Councils that have an active Council CEM® Commission. The number of Certified Emergency Managers within each Council’s jurisdiction will determine membership on Global CEM® Commission. Each Council with an established CEM® Commission will have at least one member on the Global CEM® Commission. A Council will have one vote on the Global CEM® Commission for every 100 CEM®s within their Council’s jurisdiction, with a maximum of four per CEM® Council represented on the Global CEM® Commission.  These members must hold a current CEM® certification. At this time, the Global CEM® Commission is composed of four USA representatives and two Oceania-Asia representative. The two Oceania-Asia representatives will cast one vote between them.

For Councils Without Commissions: IAEM Councils without Council Commissions will determine which commission they prefer to review their candidate applications, as approved by the IAEM-Global Board on Jan. 19, 2011. At this time, IAEM-Europa candidate portfolios will be reviewed by the Oceania-Asia CEM® Commission.

The Certified Emergency Manager® Program is served by CEM® Commissions composed of emergency management professionals, including representatives from allied fields, education, the military and private industry. CEM® Commissioners are appointed by the IAEM Board of Directors to provide oversight to and administer the CEM® program. See the listing of Past Global CEM® Commission Chairs.
