Emergency Management Program at NDSU | Chapter Web Site
The Emergency Management program at North Dakota State University continues to draw in more students from the University. The IAEM-student chapter now has 30 members and growing. This year’s chapter mission is furthering education of students outside of the classroom. The students can look forward to a variety of activities.
- Professional Speaker series: In this speaker series, the chapter brings in a professional that works in the emergency management or related field. These speakers educate the students about how emergency management is used in their profession.
- The Annual IAEM Conference: Last year the NDSU-IEMSA chapter was tied for the largest turnout of undergraduate, as well as graduate students at the conference. This year the chapter plans to represent the University in as strong of numbers. This will allow our members to network with emergency management professionals, and further educate them in the realm of emergency management.
- North Dakota State University’s 2nd Annual Emergency Preparedness Expo: This will be the second year that the NDSU-IEMSA chapter has hosted this event. This event is meant to educate the public, most specifically college students, about how to prepare for a disaster. This event raises preparedness awareness around our community, and university.
The IEMSA-NDSU program goes beyond the activities listed. Each year we continue to give back to our community with philanthropic events. Last year the organization held a blood drive on campus, which was very successful. These philanthropic events allow the organization to reach out to the community, and give back to the area. This organization continues to create leadership, and further encourage the students’ education. If you would like to contact the IEMSA-NDSU chapter feel free to contact Chapter President Blake Bennett at Blake.Bennett@ndsu.edu, or chapter Advisor Carol.Cwiak@ndsu.edu.
