New IAEM-USA Region 7 Officers Elected in Special Election (02/28/12) In a special election ending Feb. 28, 2012, IAEM-USA Region 7 members elected Teri Smith, CEM, as President, and Paul Johnson as Vice President. Many Exciting Activities Are Taking Place in IAEM-USA Region 7 (02/24/10)
Nick Crossley, CEM, IAEM-USA Region 7 President, has been working with Mark Owen, CEM, IAEM-USA Region 7 Vice President, to review the issues we pledged to work on and develop for the region over the last two months. We have made several exciting changes and steps toward those goals, and wanted to share them with you and seek your feedback.
One of our greatest challenges in the next two years is increasing the membership in our region. We feel there is lots of potential in the region to do this, both in the public and private sector. Other challenges include increasing communication from the association to you and amongst our members. In addition, we are setting up a library on the Region 7 page on the IAEM-USA web site so that we can share model plans, articles of interest, and other items that we feel would interest our colleagues in the region.
The first activity we are trying to organize is a “Critical Infrastructure Summit” to be held in Kansas City, MO. We hope to bring together local, state and federal level emergency management professionals and representatives from critical infrastructure to review common planning, operational and community education activities, and to identify linkages and partnerships for IAEM members and others in the region.
We also will begin holding quarterly conference calls/webinars to discuss Region 7 business. These are slated to start in April 2010.
