Due to budgetary constraints, VDEM must cancel a class if a minimum of 15 students have not enrolled two weeks before the class begins. Sign up early.
The Commonwealth of Virginia’s Learning Management System Knowledge Center provides information and enrollment for each class. Students who do not already have an account through any state agency Learning Management System domain must register for a VDEM LMS account (a one-time process) in order to enroll. Students who have an account through any state agency should log in at that agency’s LMS address and enroll in the desired course(s). Help videos for registration and enrollment processes are provided on the VDEM LMS login page at https://covkc.virginia.gov/vdem/external/. Assistance is available from VDEM’s LMS Help Desk at lmshelp@vdem.virginia.gov or (804) 897-9995.

FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute has updated four classes to align more closely with the National Response Framework and National Incident Management System:
ICS 300 and 400 Courses
The following ICS 300 and 400 courses are upcoming in the region. If you are interested in attending a particular course, please go to http://cra.traincaster.com/app/Login.pm, register for access and select a program you would like to attend. Course times vary and are included on the registration site, along with additional information on pre-requisites. There is no cost for these courses. Additional courses and locations throughout the region, including evening and weekend offerings, are being finalized and will be announced soon.
Note that some courses may already be full or attendance restricted due to the location.
New FEMA Training Available:
Intermediate Concepts in Homeland Security Risk Management (MGT-363-W)
Intermediate Concepts in Homeland Security Risk Management (course number MGT-363-W) is a new, web-based FEMA course helps management-level participants understand key risk-management concepts and recognize how they apply to homeland security decision making. MGT-363-W is the second of three courses in a FEMA-sponsored risk management training initiative through the Competitive Training Grant Program. The course is available for free at http://www.LearnAboutRisk.com and takes approximately seven hours to complete. FEMA’s approved catalog of training courses is available at https://www.firstrespondertraining.gov.
Formidable Footprint - Earthquake
Nationally Stated, Local Level Tabletop Exercise for Community Preparedness Groups
Formidable Footprint - Earthquake" is a nationally staged, local level Tabletop Exercise for community preparedness groups (e. g., Citizen Corps, Community Emergency Response Teams, Map Your Neighborhood Teams, Neighborhood Associations, Neighborhood Emergency Response Teams, and Neighborhood Watches). The TTX is offered at NO COST and any number of groups or individuals from any location can participate. The purpose of the Formidable Footprint Tabletop Exercise is to provide neighborhood residents an opportunity to assess their capabilities to prepare for, respond to and recover from an earthquake striking their homes and neighborhood. During the exercise participants will: gain a through understanding of how prepared neighborhood residents are for an earthquake, and establish a concept of operations that will guide the neighborhood and its residents through the process of responding to an earthquake. - FEMA's Private Sector Division is releasing two Tabletop Exercise presentations, free for download and use by any organization as tools for continuity planning, preparedness and resiliency. The downloads are available here.
- Information from the Eastern Region Training Coordinator at the Center for Domestic Preparedness and the current resident catalog is attached for reference.

- Delaware County Community College is offering a number of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness courses at no cost to the participant. Please check their website for additional information.
Joint Training for Law Enforcement & Public Health Officials
The primary goal of this FREE course is to enhance preparedness and knowledge to ensure the joint effectiveness of law enforcement and public health, particularly when conducting concurrent
investigations in response to a threat or attack involving bioterrorism or other types of WMD. The course addresses this goal by bringing law enforcement and public health together in a combined
