STUDENT CHAPTERS
The International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) and the International Emergency Management Student Association (IEMSA) agreed to merge at the IAEM 2002 Annual Conference in Columbus, Ohio. As part of the merger, IAEM added Region 12 (the Student Region) to the existing IAEM regions. At each IAEM Annual Conference, students now elect a regional president who sits on the IAEM Board of Directors.

Presentation at the 2007 FEMA Higher Ed Conference by Brad Wilson, Student Region Vice President. Survey respondents were 228 students actively enrolled in EM or related programs. The survey covered EM student demographics; opinions on programs, professors and courses; internships; research, conference attendance and publications; suggestions for program changes; and opinions on events and the field of EM.
- Provide a unified voice to emergency management students at the local, national and international levels.

Student membership is available to any individual who is attending a post-secondary institution in a full-time capacity, as designated by that institution, OR, is attending a post-secondary institution in a part-time capacity and not employed in full-time in emergency management. All EM students and IEMSA chapter members are invited to attend the IAEM 57th Annual Conference & EMEX 2009, set for Oct. 31-Nov. 5, in Orlando, Florida, USA. The conference is a great place to learn about current topics and latest trends, and to experience technological developments in the EM field.
