If the petition is approved by the Association, the designation “Provisional Chapter” will be awarded, pending completion of the remaining chartering requirements. The Chapter Petition may be completed and submitted at the same time as the documents required for a formal charter.

Provisional Chapters will not be included in IAEM’s Group Exemption for 501c3 status.

Requirements:

A member of the department’s faculty must be designated Chapter Advisor. The chapter should also consider identifying an alternate advisor.

Support from the appropriate level of school administration for starting an IEMSA Chapter.

A list of interim1 officers to include at a minimum:

o President
o Vice President (or President Elect)
o Secretary 2
o Treasurer

Complete and submit an “Application to Petition the International Emergency Management Association to Establish an International Emergency Management Student Association Chapter." Make sure the required information is reflected in the application.

After receiving “Provisional Chapter” status, organizations have one year to complete the remaining requirements to receive their full charter and all the associated benefits.
