Region 2 News

Letter and Legislator Listing on New Jersey Tide Telemetry System (05/01/08) Region 2 is supplying interested members with a sample letter and a listing of legislative contacts in regard to the critical need to fund the New Jersey Tide Telemetry System. These documents will be distributed at the Region 2 Meeting.

Region 2 Schedules Seminar and Meeting (01/17/08) Region 2 has scheduled the Region 2 Seminar and Meeting for June 11-12, 2008 in Fairlawn, New Jersey.

IAEM-USA Region 2 will host a two-day seminar titled "Campus & School Safety – Planning & Response" on June 11-12, 2007 in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Topics will include:

  • St. John’s University and Virginia Tech incidents
  • The use of technology in the planning, prevention and response to such large scale incidents, including the New Jersey UASI Model Schools project
  • Campus alert and warning and post-event improvements
  • Emergency management in institutions of higher education
  • Organization and use of untrained students and volunteers during major emergencies
 

Stephen Kempf, Regional Administrator, FEMA Region 2, and Peter Marghella, President of Medical Planning Resources, Stafford, Virginia will be keynote speakers.

IAEM-USA Region 2 President Bill Castagno will conduct a regional meeting followed by the CEM®/AEM Orientation program for anyone interested in attaining these certifications. Raffle tickets will also be available, with all proceeds going to the IAEM Scholarship Program.

The registration fee is $59 for IAEM members and $99 for non-members. Lunch and breaks are included on both days. Non-members who join IAEM during the seminar will receive a $40 rebate toward their membership dues.  Attendance is limited to 170, so register early.
