Results of Attendee Feedback Survey for IAEM-USA Region 1 and MAEMP's 2010 New England Emergency Managers Conference Published (06/07/10)

 

IAEM-USA Region 1 and the Massachusetts Association of Emergency Management Professionals Co-Produced the New England Emergency Managers Conference (05/10/10) Friday, Apr. 23, 2010, saw the gathering of 160 160 emergency managers attended the New England Emergency Managers Conference, Apr. 23, 2010, in Sturbridge, MAleading emergency managers at Old Sturbridge Village, Sturbridge, Massachusetts for the IAEM-USA Region 1 and Massachusetts Association of Emergency Management Professionals (MAEMP) annual conference, “Neighbors United.” This was the first year that IAEM Region 1, New England, has collaborated with another organization on the annual conference, and it was an outstanding success both in overall attendance as well as vendor support.

Bruce Lockwood, CEM, IAEM-USA Region 1 President, opened the conference with welcoming remarks and tribute to the Region 1 Conference founder of 2006, IAEM-USA President Pamela L’Heureux, CEM, who was also in attendance. Barry Wante, CEM, MAEMP Vice President, on behalf of Ron Reents, MAEMP President, extended a warm welcome to Old Sturbridge Village and to the State of Massachusetts.

Keynote Address:

Jason McNamara, Chief of Staff, FEMA Headquarters, delivered the opening keynote address ,with an emphasis on partnerships, coordination, collaboration and team building that is lasting. He noted that FEMA is not the team, but rather only part of the team. FEMA’s new mission statement is: “Support our citizens and first responders. Ensure as a nation we work together to build, sustain and improve our capability to prepare, protect, respond, recover and mitigate.”

Door prizes donated from a variety of generous supporters were raffled to attendees, raising $700 towards the IAEM Scholarship Commission. The conference concluded with the directive by IAEM-USA Region 1 President Bruce Lockwood, CEM, asking all IAEM-USA Region 1 members to bring one more colleague into IAEM membership within the next year.
