Region 1 President Pamela L'Heureux Represents IAEM at Seminar on Financial Management in Major Emergencies; Event Supported by IAEM (10/28/07)
Region 1 President Pamela L’Heureux represented IAEM at an Oct. 17 seminar at Simmons College in Boston on "Excellence in Financial Management Before, During and After a Major Emergency," hosted by the Council for Excellence in Government in partnership with IAEM, Visa and JP Morgan Chase. The session convened local, state and federal experts in the areas of financial management and planning to discuss strategies to effectively prepare for, respond to and recover from a major disaster. The keynote address, presented by Juliette Kayyem, Undersecretary of Homeland Security, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, focused on business and government in an emergency.
Charles Connell from JP Morgan Chase and Darren Muise from Visa USA provided excellent information to seminar participants.

IAEM Region 1 Schedules 2007 Annual Conference (09/02/07)
IAEM Region 1 has set its 2007 Annual Conference for Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at
Lake Morey Resort, Fairlee, Vermont. The conference fee of $35 includes the conference, continental breakfast, lunch, and afternoon break. There will be a social event on Sunday for those arriving the evening before.

- IAEM President Mike Selves, CEM, will be speaking.
- Ross Nagy (VT EMA) will provide an update on pandemic influenza.
- Ret. Col. Larry Porter, CEM, will share helpful hints on studying for the CEM® exam.
- Tara McEnroe (Massachusetts Maritime Academy) will speak on the technological application of EM software and its benefits in the development and execution of the emergency management simulator at MMA.
- Bob Bohlmann, CEM (York Co. EMA) will provide an IAEM U.S. Government Affairs update.
- Mike Grant, Maine's Training Officer, will speak on NIMSCAST.
- Tim Stetson (VT ARC) will speak on mass sheltering.
