IAEM-oceania council 2012 AWARDs competition Winners
IAEM-Oceania Partners in Preparedness Award
The Partners in Preparedness Award recognizes programs or processes that demonstrate innovative, multi-participant involvement between local governments/governmental entities and private sector businesses, non-governmental organizations/non-profits, or individuals which have resulted in effective and efficient incident management, emergency management or homeland security processes.

- The 2012 IAEM-Oceania Partners in Preparedness Award winner is New Zealand Red Cross Torch Radio Outreach Programme, a partnership between New Zealand Red Cross and Christchurch City Council Civil Defence Emergency Management to distribute Emergency Preparedness information to schools, the elderly, the disabled and other diverse community groups. Other partners are the Coca-Cola Foundation, Goldman Sachs, Ministry of Education, Age Concern, Association of People with Disabilities, IHC, Women’s Refuge, and Refugee and Migrant Services.

IAEM-Oceania Public Awareness Award Winners
The Public Awareness Awards recognize outstanding public awareness programs or public education products related to emergency management, homeland security, and/or disaster preparedness.

- Division 1, Local Emergency Management Agency: The 2012 IAEM-Oceania Public Awareness (Division 1) Award winner is Wellington Region Emergency Management Office for its Tsunami Blue Line Project, an innovative approach to educating the public about the actions to take in the event of a local tsunami. This entry went on to win the 2012 IAEM-Global Public Awareness (Division 1) Award.

- Division 2, State/Regional/National Government, International, or Nonprofit Organization: The 2012 IAEM-Oceania Public Awareness (Division 2) Award winner is New Zealand Red Cross Recovery Communications Programme, a grassroots approach that utilized the help of community hot spots to distribute information about grants and assistance programs in the wake of the Christchurch earthquake.
