IAEM AWARDS program
The purpose of this process is to clearly define to all members and staff the process required to nominate a “new awards category.”
A. All new award category nominations must contain the following information for consideration:
- What is the purpose of the award?
- Who is the targeted audience?
- How broad is the audience (numbers of people that may be eligible for this award)?
- What is the criteria that needs to be met, to submit award?
- What is the benefit to IAEM?
B. All proposed IAEM-Global award categories must be reviewed first by the IAEM-Global Awards & Recognition Work Group before IAEM-Global Board consideration.
- IAEM staff submits the proposed award category to the Chair of the Awards & Recognition Work Group.
- The Chair will then forward to all work group members for consideration.
- If there are any concerns and/or questions from the work group, the Chair will request staff support to assist with finding the answers.
- The IAEM-Global Awards & Recognition Work Group will then vote on the proposed award category.
- The Chair will forward all requests and the work group's recommendation (positive or negative) to the IAEM-Global Board of Directors.
- All requests for new award categories must be submitted for consideration by February 1st of any year the award category is proposed.
C. Council Awards. The same process holds true for IAEM-USA Council award category nominations, except that the IAEM-USA Awards & Recognition Committee reviews the nominations and presents them with the committee's recommendation to the IAEM-USA Board. For other Councils, please contact your Council President for information.
D. The nomination of a new IAEM-Global or IAEM-USA award category for 2013 must be made on the official award category nomination form and emailed to IAEM Awards Program Manager Karen Thompson at thompson@iaem.com by February 1, 2013.
