On May 5, 2011, a separate call for entries was announced for the 2011 IAEM-Global Awards Competition, which includes four award categories: Business & Preparedness Award; Partners in Preparedness Award; Public Awareness Award; and Technology & Innovation Awards. Just as last year, entrants compete at the Council level first, with winners moving on to the Global level. Details are posted at www.iaem.com/Awards.
Entry Process
Be sure to read the guidelines before completing and submitting your entries on the official entry form to Karen Thompson at Thompson@iaem.com. Entry forms and supporting materials must be submitted via email. The entry deadline is Tuesday, June 21, 2011, 5:00 p.m., U.S. Eastern Time. The entry deadline has been extended to Wednesday, June 29, 2011, U.S. Eastern Time.
There are two award categories in this competition:
- The Career Excellence Award recognizes a national leader who has made significant contributions throughout his/her career to promote and improve the emergency management profession in the USA.
- The Academic Recognition Award recognizes a U.S. academic leader or institution that has made a significant contribution to the formal education of students pursuing a career in emergency management or through research and development of paradigms or standards that have helped shape the broader field of emergency and disaster management.
Please Note: This separate IAEM-USA competition for the Career Excellence and Academic Recognition Awards is for U.S. entries only. These awards are NOT self-nominating.
The winners of the IAEM-USA 2011 Career Excellence and Academic Recognition Awards will be announced by the IAEM-USA Awards & Recognition Committee on August 5, 2011. The awards will be presented at the IAEM-USA 2011 Annual Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
