2008-2009 scholarship Awardees
The IAEM Scholarship
Commission awarded scholarships to four students in emergency management and related programs for the 2008-2009 school year. Congratulations to the 2008-2009 IAEM scholarship winners!
Scholarship Recipient Profiles
- William T. Halstead, Jr., the recipient of the $2,500 DRI International Lacy Suiter Emergency Management Scholarship, completed his bachelor of science degree in emergency management in August 2008 and is currently working toward a master's of public administration at Jacksonville State University. He is the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Director for the Newtown (CT) Health District. This award was funded fully by DRI International.
- Kevin Misenheimer is working toward a master's degree in emergency management at The George Washington University. For more than seven years, he was the federal on-scene coordinator with the Environmental Protection Agency. Kevin received a $1,000 IAEM Scholarship.
- Bryan Edwin Sali is the first recipient of the $1,000 Command Sergeant Major L. Ken Fisher Emergency Management Scholarship. He is earning a diploma in emergency management at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. Bryan is a volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross as a member of the Calgary Disaster Management Response Team. This scholarship was funded fully by ResponseForce 1 Corporation.
- Jeffrey D. Stern, CEM, is working on a doctorate in public administration at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He is a former White House Fellow and served his term as a fellow at the U.S. Department of Interior in the Office of Law Enforcement, Security and Emergency Management. Jeffrey received a $1,000 IAEM Scholarship.
