The International Association of Emergency Managers Scholarship Program awarded scholarships to three students in emergency management and related programs. The awards were
for the 2006-2007 school year.

DRI International provided the funding dedicated to two of the
scholarships. The DRI International funded scholarships were
awarded to William Colt Hagmaier and Terrance Lofgreen. Erin
Edmundson received a scholarship awarded from the IAEM general
scholarship fund.

While at the university as a full-time undergraduate student, he obtained his medic certification and continued volunteering with three different rescue squads and a search/rescue group. During his final two years at the University of Virginia, he worked part-time in the emergency department for the university medical center and also earned certification as an Emergency Medical Technician Instructor. Hagmaier will graduate in 2007. He was elected as IAEM Student Region Treasurer for 2006-2007.

For the past three years, Lofgreen has been a volunteer firefighter/EMT for the Steilacoom Department of Public Safety. He currently is participating in an internship at Pierce County Department of Emergency Management. Lofgreen has spoken at schools about the importance of fire prevention, organized the 2005 Safety Fair, and provided fire station tours to students. He plans to graduate in December 2006.
