Dear IAEM Friends,
I have decided to run for
Second Vice President of
IAEM. We have had strong
leadership in the past and presently
have a fantastic team of leaders. I
want to see the organization
continue to grow and would very
much like to be a leader in making
that happen. I believe I can work
well with our leadership team now
and in the future.
My goal is to see more local
emergency manager memberships
and involvement in the association.
Expanding upon that goal is to see
“that more than one person in a
jurisdiction really knows there is a
plan and what the plan is and what
the plan does...” We have to get
grass roots involvement from all
areas, regions and countries.
My background includes: retired
with 30 years service from Verizon Communications, with the past 15
years spent in management – while
at the same time, I have spent the
past 18 years as the local Emergency
Management Director in the
Town of Waterboro, Maine
(population 6,600).
The past four years, since my
retirement, have been spent as an
assistant director at York County
Emergency Management Agency.
I also spent the past three years
working as a FEMA DAE. This
year I had the privilege of working
as the Local Lead in the FEMA
DRC for our May flooding. I am a
FEMA certified ICS 100, 200, 300
400 ICS Instructor, a CERT
Instructor, WMD and Hazmat
Awareness Instructor, and instructor
of several other courses.
Yours in Emergency Management,
Pamela L’Heureux (Pam)
IAEM Region 1 President
