  • Keynote Speaker R. David Paulison, Administrator, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), will discuss reorganization of FEMA and current initiatives of interest to Citizen Corps participants.

The conference is being hosted jointly by the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) and the National Emergency Management Association (NEMA). The conference is open to all who are interested in making their communities safer, stronger, and better prepared for all types of hazards.

About Citizen Corps

Now in its fifth year, Citizen Corps has grown from an idea born out of the tragedy of 9/11 to a full-fledged grassroots movement to engage American citizens in community preparedness and security. Learn about the work of Citizen Corps.

Call for Abstracts (03/02/07) All abstracts must be submitted directly through the online system. Deadline: Mar. 23, 2007.

Speaker Stipend

If participation in the National Conference on Community Preparedness is not otherwise supported by the speaker’s organization or jurisdiction, speakers qualify for a $100 stipend, which can be applied toward the registration fee ($325-$425) or travel costs.

Registration    

$325 for all conference registrants from now until April 30, 2007.

$425 for all conference registrants beginning May 1, 2007.

Student Rates and Limited Volunteer Opportunities Available
Full-time students are eligible to receive a 50% discount from the $425 registration rate to attend the 2007 National Conference on Community Preparedness. Also, there are some limited opportunities for students to work on-site as conference volunteers and earn their registration fee. Volunteer activities might include stuffing pre-registration packets, staffing the registration desk, helping with audio-visual equipment, chaperoning session rooms, or running errands for staff. For details on how students can participate as volunteers, please contact Sharon Kelly at info@iaem.com.
