I am nominating for the position of Vice President IAEM Oceania for the following reasons:
- I have a strong belief that if we have the capacity, we should all contribute to the life of our communities, including our occupational community.
- I believe that the position fits well with the other functions I hold, of the Australian National Representative and Oceania Public Officer.
- The IAEM is building Emergency Management as a profession throughout the world, and in the Oceania region in particular. I think it is important that this work continues and that Emergency Management is increasingly recognised for the important role that it is, rather than an occasional function of those who manage emergency or other services.
- After nearly 30 years involved in the Emergency Management sector, I believe that the IAEM is best placed to bring Emergency Management into focus and that this is the best time to do that. I am keen to support that process and to do my best to facilitate members gaining from membership of the association.
