After the hearing, Mike Selves, CEM, IAEM President;

Transportation and Infrastructure Committee (T&I);
and Sam Graves (R-MO) Ranking Member of the
Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public
Buildings and Emergency Management of the T&I Committee, discussed Chairman Oberstar's long interest in emergency management and his efforts during the formation of the
U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security to try to keep
FEMA out and independent.
