What is a National Representative? [+/-]
National Representatives are volunteers who hold a position, or have a network of contacts, within their country's EM community. They are members who have agreed to represent IAEM in their country and recruit members with the objective of creating a viable number of members to form a new Region (75). All that is required of them is that they allow their details (name and e-mail) to be posted as a point of contact in their country for those interested in finding out about or joining IAEM. Each month they are asked to update the International Council President with a report on activity and items of interest in their part of the world. Their activities to grow a truly international association of EM professionals will be supported by IAEM HQ and the International Council President.

Earthquake Awareness Week Kicks Off in Jamaica (08 Jan 2009) Jamaica’s location along the northern margin of the Caribbean Plate and the presence of very active faults on the island makes it very vulnerable to earthquakes.
To create greater awareness of this threat to the country, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) will be observing Earthquake Awareness Week under the theme: “Learn Plan, Prepare…the next big quake could be near!” scheduled for 9-15 January 2010.
A series of activities have been planned to commemorate the Week, aimed at increasing the general awareness of the Jamaican public to the importance of preparing for an earthquake. Learn more.
