IAEM-USA Student Region Announces 2010 CEM®/AEM Mentorship Program (15 Feb 2010) The IAEM-USA Student Region has announced its 2010 CEM®/AEM Mentorship Program for students who plan to prepare and submit a CEM®/AEM packet in 2010. 

  • Participation: Students wishing to receive the $100 reimbursement must be present on all four conference calls.
  • Reimbursements: The USA-Student Region is offering a $100 reimbursement to the first 25 students who submit and gain approval for the application packet and pass the written exam. (Application packages must be submitted to IAEM HQ for review by Sept. 10, 2010.)
  • Additional notes: There is no guarantee that suggestions made during the mentorship process guarantee approval of credentials.

  • Breakout A: “How to Apply for the CEM®/AEM" - Presentation by Guy Corriveau, CEM, an IAEM CEM® Commissioner, on preparing and applying for both your Certified Emergency Manager® (CEM®) and Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) Certificate.
  • Breakout B: “What I Wish New Emergency Managers Had Before I Hired Them” - A panel discussion by emergency managers in both the public and private sectors on the items most missing from new emergency managers in the field. The discussion also included how to be better prepared to enter the field.

Call for Entries: IAEM-USA Student Region 2009 Awards for Student of the Year and Advisor of the Year (30 Sept 2009) Do you know someone who deserves recognition for their hard work and dedication to the IAEM-USA Student Region? Make someone a part of IAEM history, and nominate them for the first-ever IAEM-USA Student Region awards! The International Association of Emergency Managers USA Student Region announces its call for nominations for the 2009 USA SR Awards. The two award categories this year are the 2009 Student of the Year and the 2009 Advisor of the Year. To nominate someone, please complete the forms below, and submit them no later than Oct. 15, 2009. The awards will be presented to the winners at the IAEM Annual Conference in November in Orlando. 

The Elections are coming!! The Elections are coming!! (25 August 2009) IAEM-USA Student Region members are encouraged to consider running for one of the USA SR Offices. Over the past few years, the USA Student Region has really pushed to make this the premier organization for students in emergency management. We oversee programs that touch on professional development, networking and academic excellence.

IAEM Student Council Invites Students Who Are Prospective CEM®/AEM Candidates to August 13 Conference Call (10 August 2009) This will be the third of three conference calls to discuss the requirements for the essay and any questions you may have as you move through the process. This orientation program is designed to help introduce students to the CEM®/AEM process.

IAEM-USA Student Region Announces Results of the 2009 EM Student Survey (02 June 2009) The results of the 2009 EM Student Survey, conducted by the IAEM-USA Student Region are posted below. In addition, the PowerPoint presentation of the results presented at the 2009 FEMA Higher Education Conference is posted.
